How White Pine Mechanical came to be

Kevin Borden and Austin Large spent years working in the HVAC trade before recognising a gap that frustrated them: too many contractors pushed equipment replacements on homeowners who only needed a repair. That experience shaped the repair-first philosophy at the core of White Pine Mechanical Inc. If your furnace or air conditioner can be fixed properly, that’s the recommendation you’ll get.

Both Kevin and Austin hold 313A Refrigeration Mechanic licences and G1 Gas Fitter Licences, which means they don’t rely on subcontractors or dispatched technicians to handle the technical work. They’re directly involved in diagnosing, installing, and commissioning the systems in your home or commercial building. That level of owner involvement changes the quality of the work and the honesty of the conversation.

White Pine Mechanical operates from two dedicated hubs: Kevin serves Holland Landing and communities throughout York Region, while Austin covers Georgetown and Halton Region. This dual-hub model means you’re working with a local operator who knows your area, not a crew dispatched from across the province. From Newmarket and Aurora to Richmond Hill, Bradford, Milton, and Brampton, the company travels throughout surrounding communities and is never limited to a single location. When the person recommending the work is the same person doing the work, you get honest recommendations, not unnecessary sales.

Meet the owners behind every job

Choosing an HVAC contractor based on price alone is a common mistake. What matters just as much is whether the people doing the work hold proper trade licences and will be personally accountable for the result.

Kevin Borden

Owner & Operator — Holland Landing / York Region

Kevin holds both a 313A Refrigeration Mechanic licence and a G1 Gas Fitter Licence. He leads White Pine Mechanical’s York Region operations from Holland Landing, serving homeowners and commercial clients across Newmarket, Aurora, Richmond Hill, and Bradford. Kevin’s approach centres on thorough system commissioning: every piece of equipment he installs is tested under operating conditions to confirm it performs at its full potential. That attention to detail means fewer callbacks and longer equipment life.

Austin Large

Owner & Operator — Georgetown / Halton Region

Austin also holds a 313A Refrigeration Mechanic licence and G1 Gas Fitter Licence. He manages the Georgetown hub, covering Milton, Brampton, and communities throughout Halton Region. Austin brings a methodical diagnostic process to every service call, identifying root causes rather than treating symptoms. His commitment to transparent communication keeps clients informed at every stage, from initial assessment through to final testing.

  • Both owners are licensed 313A Refrigeration Mechanics — this is not a dispatch-only operation. Kevin and Austin are personally involved in the technical work on your system.
  • Both owners hold G1 Gas Fitter Licences, qualifying them to install, service, and repair natural gas heating equipment, gas piping, and related systems across residential and commercial properties.

What guides our work

  1. 01

Repair first, replace only when it makes sense

If your equipment can be repaired properly, we’ll tell you. We only recommend replacement when it’s genuinely the better long-term option.

  2. 02

    Proper system commissioning

Every installation is thoroughly tested under real operating conditions. Commissioning confirms correct airflow, refrigerant charge, and safety controls before we leave.

  3. 03

    Transparent communication throughout

We stay in contact from the first call through project completion. You’ll know what we found, what we recommend, and why.

  4. 04

Locally owned across two service hubs

Dedicated operators in Holland Landing and Georgetown mean faster response and local accountability across York Region and Halton Region.

  5. 05

    Owners on every project

Kevin and Austin are hands-on with the work. The person assessing your system is the same person standing behind the result.

White Pine Mechanical Inc. exists to deliver HVAC service built on honest recommendations and qualified workmanship. We treat every home and commercial property the way we’d want our own systems treated: diagnosed accurately, repaired when practical, and installed right the first time.
